It was a good book. I immediately started it after finishing the first one. This book I thought would end up in a happy conclusion for the man couple. However, the MMC is so far up his own ass he might as well be a pretzel. I genuinely wanted to beat the life out of this man for being such an idiot. I didn't think it was possible to go from hating this man to loving him to hating him again but here we are. The book left off on another cliffhanger but I am not sure if I will continue

I'm slowly making my way through this series and I have to say that this book really made me want to stop after this.

The story is a dark, but in a way that's almost light (things are glazed over, there's no real depth to any sort of trauma being described, etc). The plot is pushed forward in a haphazard way that lazily ties together small hints and clues in between each time the two main characters end up in bed. I would be lying if I said that this series wasn't entertaining, but it tested my patience with the way this particular book was written and it left much to be desired.

I've already accepted the sort of clipped way that Penelope Sky writes, but this book seems to have been at the mercy of someone doing an exceptionally lazy job. It's riddled with grammatical and spelling errors and made me miss a time when I read fanfiction just for the sheer lack of any spell checking in this book. Simple things like reading 'he started into my eyes' really threw me off the momentum of the book (you meant stare into someone eyes... right?).

I've given this book 2 stars for 2 simple reasons: the story is interesting enough to be entertaining and the chemistry between the two main protagonists is fun to follow, but this book was a let down considering the fact that it has a very solid 4+ rating at my time of reading.

As I read the first one, I just kept thinking about how messed up it was. As the second book progressed, I started to fall in love a lot more. I could feel the type of love that pearl and crow shared with one another, even though they were both so reserve. The cliffhanger at the end killed me and of course now I’m reading the third one. I can’t wait to see how it ends.
