Thank you to Cemetery Dance for providing a review copy.
3.5 stars rounded up. I really enjoyed this novella about three friends returning to the trailer park they grew up in. The supernatural twist was interesting, and the backstory as well. I almost felt it was a bit too short, but overall a very solid novella.

4 authors came together to each write a portion of this book, and those transitions were flawless. This is part coming of age, part supernatural, and a lot of heart. For an 86 page novella, the whole story, including the characters, were well developed. While I am satisfied with the story as a whole, I do wish this was a bit longer (selfishly). The writing was so beautiful and I was really able to connect with the characters.

At this point, if Cemetery Dance is involved, it’s pretty much a must read for me.

“The ‘Pines was a dead end. No one seemed to leave except in a coffin.”
Friendships built from tragedy never die. Connor, Miggy, and Jelica found a way out of Sunny Pines that didn’t involve a pine box but now, 22 years later they reunite at the spot where Sunny Pines burned down. They all survived the abuse, the violence, the trafficking and the drugs and want to make sure the evil of this spot never returns. Is their friendship strong enough to face what they ran from? Full of real and raw emotion, you see what these kids went through while growing up and how strong friendships can be all you need.
This story is dark and the past won’t stay dead. It is too short of a book for me to get into any more detail but this is a collaborative project of four great authors. SUNNY PINES was written by Ray Garton, @bev.vincent , Kealan Patrick Burke, and @glenrkrisch where the first author would write a section then hand it off to the next, and so on and so forth.
