I first read/met Fanny in the second book of this series. I was familiar with the characters and was surprised that in this book, Jack Dodger, in the beginning still have not met his wife, Olivia. Going back to the story, Fanny and Sterling fall in for insta-lust (a trope that I really dislike) so not off to a good start. I just could not believe that this two in particular noticed each other's domineering presence in the room. I hate it when I believe that the only reason they felt that way was because they are the "main leads". It's as if they are only following a role and not because they are dynamoc characters. Anyhow, the oush and pull between Fanny and Sterling dragged on for too long and yeah, I was just bored again to the point of me skimming a lot. I was actually liking Fanny in the beginning part of the book, however, as the story goes on, she becomes less and less of an interesting character and more of a Mary Sue. I was expecting that she would open up with her trauma and tbh, it's justified if she ever emotionally dumo her thoughts in one if her narratives since I would really like to know her experiences and how its changed her but what I got was the incessant worrying of Feagan's lads iver Fanny. It was as if they were the one who experienced the trauma because Fanny was just so removed from it, only bringing it up if it was needed for the plot. Sterling's disability was not very apparent ir reoresented in the story but I was touched with the Epilogue. After this book, I'm anticipating to read Jim's story and hope that it would be better.
