I really liked this one. It was very sad at times, but it had very cute moments as well. The only problem is that it wasn’t that impactful for me. Other than that, it was great!

I'm really glad I didn't read Early Sorrows when I was supposed to (back in high school) because I don't think I had the mental capacity or emotional maturity to appreciate it then as I do now. Danilo Kiš's Early Sorrows is a collection of short stories detailing the childhood and youth of the author himself during and after World War II. Let's just say, multiple of them left me almost crying, I don't remember when was the last time I felt so wrecked reading something, a lot of these stories are haunting, a bit disturbing and deeply depressing. It's a book that leaves you feeling lowkey devastated (especially the story about the dog, you know, the one ) but also really glad you read it because it's extremely human and touching, with the writing that's simply superb.
