Turned me on to some new writers. Good stories overall.

The above sentence is from when I read this in 2015. Not sure why I was reading it again this year, but I've downgraded from three stars to one, and I'm not finishing it a second time.

In theory, it's a good premise: Get the authors of the most popular detective/thriller series to pair up their main characters for crossover stories. In practice..... not great.

First off, if you haven't read the series of the 20+ different authors, you may not know what the hell is going on in the stories. Second, if you were planning to read any of the series but haven't yet, there are some VERY significant spoilers in these stories!

I got about halfway through it again, then ditched it.

Not familiar with short stories, I don't think it's my thing even I love the characters (know just a handful, not all). Still it was entertaining.

Enjoyable collection of short stories from popular authors paired together. It was fun to recognize some of the characters from other books I've read in unusually couplings with other characters. Lee Child's Reacher was a favorite, though I think I'm going to have to look into some of the other authors since I enjoyed their characters.

Great collection of short stories. I read several of these authors frequently, and those were good as usual, but I also found a couple new authors I want to read from!

Not usually a short story reader but these are some of my favourite authors. Stories were all good, just left me wanting more. Good thing I have Matchup to read later!

This was definitely a cool concept for a set of SHORT stories written by pairs of authors and their main characters. It was hard to get a feel for how some of the characters are in their full length stories so I am using the chance to read these as a small introduction to some new authors and characters I might be interested in.

What fun! Baldacci's introductions are flawless and at time humorous. The stories do not disappoint.

Really enjoyed this anthology!

I normally don't really go for the short stories but this was too interesting to pass up and I was glad that I did read it. I like some of the pairings and the stories are inline with each of the characters that I have read and enjoyed. Plus the proceeds go to a good cause.

Highly recommended to fans of mystery/thrillers.

I didn't read all the stories, as some characters I was unfamiliar with, but plan on reading some of the characters books as they all sound great!

Matchup was edited by Lee Child … FaceOff was edited by David Baldacci. I would read another one of these.

11 short stories pitting 22 characters against each other with 22 of the best thriller/suspense writers of our day! I enjoyed most of these stories! BOSCH!! Pendergast! So many great & fun stories. At the very least the stories were comforting, like having a chip of a new story!!

I lowered my rating because all of the original narrators weren’t used, understandable but a little disappointing.

Easily digestible in small bites!!
