I don't understand why people love this series so much. I liked the first part the most. Slow monastery life. Some mysteries to suss out.

But ultimately I didn't care about anyone. This is a shitty world inhabited by much shittier people doing shit things to one another.

I love antiheros and this book's antohero MC didn't make exception. I also liked monastery as setting.

I loved atmosphere, secrets and politics but this book dragged so so badly! Blurp of this book is enough to tell you what happened in this book. This was clearly the first book in the series that's only purpose was to build everything ready for the next installment.

This is a slow burn of a book, I didnt mind that so much, I liked the main character enough, but it was hard to find motivation at time

The last half to third of the book stuff finally gets going.

From what I read this duology reads like one big book, so hoping the second book is much faster

1st in a 2 part fantasy series with a likable central character with plenty of faults. Starts out a bit slow and is cumbered by details that are too detailed but the twists at the end, which I did not see, were great!

It was written in first person, and I definitely disliked the first person character. Didn't enjoy reading from his mindset and world view, especially if he's the only one I'm reading from. If balanced out with other views, maybe I'd have continued.
