I love a good second-chance romance especially with a married couple and so this second-chance novella featuring Kensa and Denver, a couple married for 7 years and on the brink of divorce because of a lack of communication. I liked a lot of things about this novella. I’m not sure if Kensa and Denver or any of the secondary characters have appeared in a previous series and this is a spin-off series, OR if this is a new world, but I do know this is the first novella in this Vegas Nights series and I was able to follow this emotional story perfectly without any additional context even though other couple’s HEAs were referred to in this.
I think what I liked best was the two bad-a$$ very strong-willed protagonists realizing that they both needed to be willing to give up some pride and adopt some humility to truly listen and hear each other. I loved that their support systems were so positive and filled with excellent advice. I was a little taken aback by Denver’s... forcefulness, but I think it fits in with the grittier, previously morally ambiguous sort of character he is/used to be, so I didn’t mind it in the context of the story, even though in real life, it would be mega problematic.
In all, I really enjoyed this one and I hope the rest of the books feature Kensa’s siblings.
