Ok, Priest is another book boyfriend for the pile. He's adorable!

I saw this on tiktok as a must read. It’s prt of a series and supposedly okay to read as a stand-alone, but I don’t recommend doing that. I didn’t read the other books and I was so lost in some parts when they discussed other characters. I feel like the plot was okay as a stand-alone but the characters have history that isn’t discussed, maybe briefly mentioned and maybe if I knew about them in previous books I’d like this one better. It is EXTREMELY dark and touches on some very difficult topics that are not for everyone. I didn’t find myself connecting to any of the characters and most of the time I was like WTF. Like I said, very very dark book definitely not for everyone.

You will never be able to convince me otherwise that both of the main characters, Priest and Bea, weren't Pick Me characters. Bea is all "I'm not like other good girls because there's darkness in me." Priest is all "I'm not like other psychopaths because I'm a monster."

Okay... I get IT.

After page 60 I started bookmarking every page that had something cringy on it. My total was 29.

29 times something just absolutely cringy was said, and that's after page 60. And the spicy scenes? Very aggressive. It was so aggressive I had to take a break reading it.

But there was something about this writing that I ate up. So far, this is my favorite out of the series. I don't know if I can recommend this because, for a character-driven story, the characters were pretty flat. Their whole personality was being Pick Me characters, and yet, I ate this story up.

Bea and Priest, this was one I was really excited to read and it did not disappoint. I will say I wasn’t ready for
Spoilerthe amount of torture and how graphic it was going to be. Like my heart was in my throat during Priest’s two sessions. But I still loved the entire book. Because Bea and Priest having a son, wrecked my heart.
I’m giving this book a 5/5 on the spicy scale because of the kinks both are into.
