Omgoodness this ending. I cannot believe it. The book was a little slow in the first 3/4 (second book syndrome) but in typical fantasy fashion I was scrambling through the last quarter. I’m truly shocked by the ending — screaming, crying, throwing up. Cannot wait to start book 3. I only gave 3.5 stars because it was slow in the beginning. Would’ve been 3 if it didn’t pick up.

~ 3.5 stars ~

Kingsbane was similar to its predecessor Furyborn, in that the slow pacing and drawn out scenes heavily let this book down. The characters were still fairly bland, but I give credit for Rielle’s story, it’s bloody brilliant. I just wished Claire Legrand had a faster and more focused writing style, as so much dialogue is overdone and repetitive. She needed to sit down and cut out about a quarter of this book. If that had been done, this could have been exquisite. Regardless I’m still excited to see how things conclude in the third and final book!

Didn't feel like we were getting any motivating factor for the story to continue, did not feel attached to any character

A really good sequel! I loved getting to have the extra POV chapters so we could get the full picture of what was happening and others thoughts/feelings. The plot moved along quickly and was engaging. Throughout the series I had different guesses to who the Prophet was but did not expect that revelation or the betrayal/plot twist at the end! Makes me excited to read the last in the series to hopefully find out that there is more to it than it seems!
