This is an epic poem about the Battle of Roncevaux Pass in 778. King Charlemagne is fighting the Muslims in Spain and has one city left to conquer. Their King offers a peace treaty. Charlemagne is interested in ending this long war. Roland, Charlemagnes nephew and leader of the rear guard forces, suggests Ganelon, Rolands step-father to be the messenger to tell the Muslims that Kind Charlemagne has accepted the peace treaty. Ganelon fears he will be killed by the Muslims and believes Roland intended t his.
Ganelon then seeks revenge by informing the Muslims of a way to ambush the rear guard of Charlemagne's army, led by Roland.
This is a wonderful story and wonderfully written in poetry.
I read an excerpt of this in High School and wished I had appreciated it more then. I was surprised to find this could fit in family drama.

Adventurous, and metal as hell. Listen to the “Doom: Eternal” soundtrack while reading for best results.
