This book should really be a movie.

Its actually been quite a long time since I read Jennifer Government but I continue to wholeheartedly recommend it. In addition to being a pretty engaging read strictly for the adventure, its also a truly entertaining satire of our increasingly branded world.

I liked it very much, even if at times it kind of felt like an action movie. :) Basically, it's set in a hyper-industrialized, competitive, capitalistic world in which the major corporations have taken sides and even started to militarize. People take the name of their company as their own last name (there are two John Nikes) - hence the title, which refers to a field agent of the government. I really enjoyed this, and think it would make an awesome movie, actually - but it will never happen.

What I really, really wanted from the epilogue was just a teeny little scene of Kate and Jennifer finally going to the shelter.

For obvious reasons, I really wanted to like this book. I'm sorry things didn't go my way...

Just bought this book again, through a strange coincidence 10 years after I purchased the paperback in 2007, I bought the ebook to read it again, today March 05th, 2017.
If I remember right, this book is a fast read and a strange near-future-SF, which is creepy real, even to the deaths about limited shoe-wear (which happened a few years after publishing).
Will re-read this some time and write a more in depth-review.
Still, as of now I highly recommend it. Still sad the planned movie was not made - yet?!

A unique work of fiction of corporate America run amok. It was a fun read.
