This was not my favourite in the series. Again, I found too much drama was placed on something outside of the mystery and almost no attention was being made to the actual murder. I’m disappointed in how little the characters looked I to the victim’s life. Of course, at the end of the book everything is revealed and all of a sudden we learn a ton about the victim. This book just doesn’t hold up to the others in the series.

Another delicious entry in this series. This characters have really come to life and grabbed me with each new stories. This series is really one that is character driven more than mystery driven but I don't mind it because of how well written the characters are. The author has done a great job with crafting full, well-rounded, likable and relatable characters, both main and secondary. I love how she leaves each story with a little cliff hanger. Fortunately, I am binge reading my way through the series and have checked out all the books from my library. Instant gratification and no waiting. Who knew a cupcake baker could find so much trouble.

I think I'm going to be a bit disappointed when I get to the last book and realize I have to wait a couple months for the next new book in the series. Oh well, on to book #8.

This is a great series. I like the dynamic between Angie and Mel and all the other characters. In the seventh book Mel and Joe have broken up due to the fact that Joe is the prosecutor on a high profile mob case. He broke up with Mel to keep her safe and has distanced himelf from the family and the bakery. Angie and Tate and staring to plan their wedding, making Mel feel a little like a third wheel. In the midst of all this the team is working at a Zombie Walk and they are dressed to the nines. Things are going great until a body that looks frighteningly like Angies shows up in the coffin. It turns out the body actually belongs to Joe's coworkers wife. It is believed that his wife was accidentally murdered due to her shocking resemblance to Angie, and was actually supposed to be a hit on Angie. This causes everyone, the brothers, Tate and Joe to ramp up the security on Angie and Mel, driving them nuts. This was another really good one!

I want to hang out with all of Jenn McKinlay’s characters! And I want to go to a zombie walk and eat Mel’s Marshmallow Mummies and then get all dressed up with her and Angie to go to Roach’s cd release party. But since I can’t, I’ll just stay up late reading about them and at times laughing out loud.
