This was a re-read for me, however, it has been so long since I read it that I had forgotten nearly all the major plot points, so it was like starting fresh!

Sonea is a strong protagonist, who doesn't wait for others to act or save her.

I enjoyed the setting and magic system and am looking forward to hearing more in Book 2.

I would have scored this 4 stars, however I did feel that the

hiding from the Magician's Guild went on for too long,

and could have benefitted from from tighter editing.
