A very good fantasy novel, with a well thought out magic system and an interesting, fleshed out world. This book was apparently the origin of the wizard school trope, which is pretty cool. A very nice book overall.

I felt nothing for Ged. I love the world but I didn’t care about what happens to Ged.

A very quick read. Similar to the other fantasy adventures of its time, this story has its roots in human character with evil taking a more metaphorical form. So if you're looking for a big battle scene, look elsewhere. This is far more subtle and hinges on drawing people in by asking readers to consider what it means to be of heroic character.
