I had only one regret when reading this book, and that's the fact that I can't immediately read the sequel.

Tchaikovsky is quickly becoming a must-read for me.

Several decades after Earth and other human worlds were destroyed by the mysterious Architects, a salvage crew find evidence that they may be returning. As various groups, political and criminal, try to capture them, they seek the truth, and try to find a way to defend humanity's worlds from the Architects. Another imaginative and enthralling adventure from Tchaikovsky.

I'm conflicted with this book. Tchaikovsky is such an imaginative writer and I adored his children of time series. This book did not at all hook me in the same way. Perhaps it was too expansive in terms of the politics, species, and issues. Perhaps the characters never fully resonated - none of the main characters make for great heroes to root for. And you never fully understand what's driving the enemy. It was interesting to see the world building and I'm curious to still know what the deeper meaning is but we'll see if I pick up the next book or not.

is the first book in the series.
One of the most well-liked subgenres of science fiction is space opera. The author can be imaginative about the wonders and dangers the cosmos holds in store for the reader on a large canvas made possible by the feeling of scale, which contributes to the creation of an epic story. In the thrilling Shards of Earth by Adrian Tchaikovsky, humanity struggles to survive in new forms while the Earth itself has been destroyed. A galaxy-threatening power is also making a comeback to carry out its destructive agenda.
