I love this book! SO funny! A knowledge of Christian mythology is not required, but would be useful. I don't know squat about the Jesus story and I still found it enjoyable! But I see that I could have gained a bit more out of the book had I known the background story

This book was hilarious. I really like Christopher Moore and this has to be my favorite book by him.

I started to read this book, and immediately put it down, because it seemed too religious, which I was afraid of, from the descriptions. Then, one day, stuck in line, with only this book synced and ready to read, I made it past the first chapter. I found it hilarious, inventive, fun, and even inspiring. I only rate it a 4 because I really did have to slog my way through the "Jesus part", his ministry and crucifixion. I am glad I made it past that first chapter. Well worth it, even as a recovered fundamentalist Christian turned Atheist.

Hilarious read! Uses a good incorporation of actual biblical facts.
I left this book in the Toronto Airport on my way home from Ireland... I hope the person who finds it enjoys it as much as I did!

The book was really what I expected it to be, a hilarious outlook of the missing gap between age 12 - 30 of Jesus' life through the eyes of his childhood best friend Levi aka Biff. There were a lot of great and funny moments but kind of dragged a bit in the middle with Jesus' journey to meet the magi. Overall though Moore has captured both comedy as well as true dramatic feeling towards the end of the book. It was worth the time to read.
