Ive been on quite a Hades and Persephone kick lately and this was completely different to what I have been reading to date.
This is like a Hunger Games of the Underworld where Persephone, who has been kidnapped from her mortal life on earth, competes in a series of trials to become the next Mrs Hades.

What she doesn't realise is that she already was married to Hades, and he still lives with the memory of their time together.

This one was a bit tamer than I was expecting. Not much interaction between H&P, but exciting!

I loved it. Persephone is plucked from Earth by Zeus to compete in a series of trials where the winner will be crowned as Hades (second) wife. Persephone, a mortal from New York, is unaware of her previous life as a goddess. Not only a goddess, but as hades first wife. She competes in the trials in hopes of losing so she can be sent back to New York, but the more she competes, the more she wants to learn about what really happened before her mortal life began. This does end on a cliff hanger, so make sure you have the second book ready to go!

3 stars. This was like someone with a great imagination and Wikipedia tried her hand at writing and her friends found it coherent enough to give her praise, so she published it. The story had a lot of potential but the way it was written was so juvenile (like YA fluff) it was difficult for me to really like anything about it. Hecate could have been amazing character, as many could have been, but seemed very underutilized, wasted. The MC had no substance, just all emotion, and the love interest had nothing going for him except their Impersonal magical connection and her attraction to bad boys (though he seems more like a project wearing black than a bad boy).
Oh and she said he’s gorgeous, so we’re to take her word for it. There was often a lack of detail where you wanted more, and almost too much to be confusing at other times. We can fully visualize what the MC is wearing and the color of hair for each goddess, but everyone else is just “what you’d think that god would look like”.
Most scenes are mapped out well, to where I could really see the room in my mind. Then she’d through details of a layout at you like random grenades and I felt like I was in a maze of constantly shifting columns and walls.
Punctuation and spacing was inconsistently used. I couldn’t tell when she meant there to be a meaningful or dramatic break, or she hit the enter bar on accident. It was an easy read though and I’ll try for the second book. The author is young and may get better.

Based on the reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed this a lot! Such a unique take on Hades & Persephone. Verrryyyyy slow burn romance though.

Group book for the Paranormal Romance Readathon.
Not a lot of romance in this one. Ended on a cliffhanger.
