This book felt like it was in two sections. I was so intrigued getting to know the cast of characters that frequent the swimming pool, and then that abruptly stopped to make way for a poignant portrait of just one character.

The writing style I found so monotonous but maybe it’s because I listened to this as an audiobook. The story was heartbreaking though.

A beautiful story with unique prose. I only wish the metaphor laid out at the beginning was more interspersed throughout the story of Alice.
