First read: February 2022. Reading this was an absolute treat. Funny, surprising, horrifying, often uncomfortable, thought-provoking and filled with gem-like moments that I can't stop thinking about. You might like this if you enjoyed "The Chair" with Sandra Oh.

Second read: July 2023, for book club.

Boring and unlikeable main character - just couldn’t be bothered to waste my time on this

I have many conflicting feelings on this book. I think there is nuance and layers. The first 2/3 had a solid voice, but then the last 3rd got chaotic. I'm not sure if this was intentional though. A challenging read at the very least.

A book about a predator that isn't about a predator. I am left unsure if I am supposed to side with the narrator, or her colleagues and students. A different look on academic predation that may or may not be needed.
