I loved this fifth Temeraire book - after Lawrence gave the cure to France, he has been sentenced to death and Temeraire is kept in a breeding camp, both keeping each other on good behaviour. Then Temeraire decides he's had enough, and leads the dragons to save England from invasion. Fabulous swash-buckling drama, and Temeraire is fantastic leading the dragons.

Loved how the personalities of the dragons shone in this one.

Having completed this book, I'm not the least sure that I've ever read it before (although I can say with confidence I've read 1-4 and 6-8). So clearly even if I've read the book before, I'm glad to have picked it up again before reading the final book in the series.
This book in many ways feels like perhaps it should have been the final book; although perhaps that's because in my head I've been thinking that the final book would involve Napoleon landing on British soil and being defeated.
At any rate, this book has plenty of action (especially in the final battle), and plenty of commentary on what honor means.

Miscommunication trope, but with dragons! This was honestly a frustrating book to read. Laurence's behavior was dumb, just take your dragon and run!
