This is an extremely good read - compelling characters and story line, for a Young Adult novel of course, but it took and made pirate and vampires something in the same - not all vampires are pirates and not all pirates are vampires, so that is good, as well as many of the element sin this i feel kept to the major themes without being overly graphic and it made this novel fun. i look forward to the next book in the series.

let me just say, i love the concept of this book as it combines two of my favourite things. however i felt it was lacking in general. the story was clichéd. i also felt there could have been more worldbuilding especially as its set in the future.

This is essentially one long prologue for the rest of the series BUT if I wasn’t shipping Cheng Li and Cate when I was 10 years old, I certainly am now. (also literally what pirate fights with a broadsword jeez)
