Wow. What a brutally beautiful collection. Yrsa does not hold back in this tell-all, and god, is it incredible. It took me so long to get through this book because I really had to digest each poem. Yrsa is very talented and honest.

A beautiful and moving collection of poetry. I’m so glad I picked this up at the Penguin event the other month because, in all honesty, I don’t think I would have gotten to it any other way. This was such a powerful collection of prose, reflecting on the heart, life, the inner self, coming of age, faith and loss of their essence. Honestly, so lovely. I actually found some modern poetry that I like (albeit not all of it, but I found some that connected with me because of how powerful they were)!!!

I would definitely recommend.

All of the poems in Bone were good, but only a handful of them stuck with me by the end of the book. For me I think poetry is the most mood based of all the things you can read. If I read Bone again in a year I may have a totally different reaction to all of the poems... this is part of why I love poetry. I definitely want to read more from Yrsa Daley-Ward in the future.

This book is really beautiful and brutal; I read it in one sitting. It reminded me of Milk & Honey, if M&H was more skillful, more vivid, and deeper (no offense! I only mean that this book feels very accessible and the poems are sometimes nicely bite-sized, but they're complex and skillful. Lovely.)

I enjoyed this collection. I found the poems to be profound and they really resonated with me. There were some poems that I feel were included in the collection for readers who are into the quick poems in the style of Rupi Kaur. There is nothing wrong with those poems, however the ones that were longer seemed to have more meat to them.
