New title in paperback. Her new one in hardcover has been out for a few weeks. It's in my pile of to read books. This one is one long not very funny farce. All the ingredients and things that makes Koko and Yum Yum universe fun and comfortable are there but somehow are not in sync. The plot is dull and finally the celebration of the I don't care how many years Pickax has existed is over. Lots of recycled ideas (the Fire play for example). I would have liked to know more about the knitting lady with premonitions, Derek's lover Lisa, etc. A somewhat miss in what is still a great series.

Typical cat who stuff. Rich people in upstate somewhere hanging out and doing philanthropy. Everything feels pleasant to read. I guess there was a mystery in there somewhere. And cats.

My neighbor did some spray painting and the smell was something else. I grabbed a coat and left. But it was 11 pm, I live in a small town, and I hadn't brought any entertainment, so I stopped by the little free library and picked up this book, which seemed like the best bet. I think I made the wrong choice.

This book is sincerely awful. If it's supposed to be a mystery, it is lacking both suspense and resolution. If it's supposed to be a small town drama, it's missing any sort of appealing characters. If it's supposed to be a silly, relaxing read, there's a lot of (truly random) death. I cannot for the life of me think who the target audience could possibly be- all I know is that it isn't me.

felt like at a curtain call when the actors take their bows at a play that’s left the audience underwhelmed, when everyone’s so impatient getting ready to leave that there’s no standing ovation or 2nd curtain call

I really need to stop reading these books now that the author-bot has taken over writing the series. The main character can't be bothered to actually investigate murders anymore, but just waits to get a letter from a friend of a friend explaining who done it and when and how. No letter, the murder goes unsolved. Despite the very short length, lots of points got repeated, and not even important ones.

To be honest these books are less mysteries than a discourse on small city life. Frankly she should have simply dispensed with the mystery. And this thing she has about killing off characters for no good reason but simply because she wants to introduce a new element/character...stupid and annoying. And lazy.
