This book started off very interesting. I finished it rather quickly bc I couldn't wait to figure out what made Maisey conjure up an imaginary friend as well as what happened to her mother. It kept my attention for the most part, especially when parts of her mother's journal were revealed. Towards the end it got a little slow, but I needed to see how it ended so I kept on. The ending was somewhat disappointing and quite predictable. Overall I'd give this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Whisper Me This is a book full of feels. It tackles some very heavy real life issues, and not everything works out as a happily ever after.

The characters are very well written and so realistic. The story itself has lots of tragedies and tears, but there is a thread of hope that runs through the background of the entire story.

This is the first book I’ve read by Kerry Anne King, but it will not be my last.

This novel is not only a mystery, but a book about family dynamics. Maisey has a complicated relationship with her mother, but when the call comes saying that her mother is critically ill, Maisey drops everything to go to her. Her accident throws the family in turmoil, and blasts open doors long sealed shut. This book was complex, with several different issues, but they all stemmed back to one: violence, and how it colors your entire life. I thought the author did a tremendous job balancing past and present, and making the characters come alive.

This one was SO close to a five star for me!

I fell into this book so easily and became engrossed in it. Trigger alert - there are some topics in this book that may set you off.

This book really dives into the fact that not everything is what it seems. Relationships aren’t what they seem, how other people see us isn’t always right or accurate, even our sense of self might be off.

I could really relate to a number of the characters, and not on the best of terms. Like many of the women in the books, I’ve been in a past abusive relationship. Coming to the realization that abuse can even be the way someone always puts your down to manipulate you? It’s tough. But it’s empowering when people start to find themselves and stand up.

Can’t say I started off with high expectations for this book as it was one of the options on my Kindle this month.... but it was one of the top books I’ve read this year.

I picked up this book as a Kindle First selection, and was delightfully surprised to discover a gem of a book. I’m so glad it dropped into my book pile! I’m going to miss these characters!

I wasn’t really sure what this book wanted to be. A thriller? A mystery? A family drama? It wasn’t bad, but Maisey drove me nuts for most of it. I liked the other characters and the story overall had a good flow and wrapped well.

2.5 out of 5 stars. It was definitely a page-turner; I read it in less than a day, but it wasn't a book that I'd say I liked or would recommend to a friend. Maybe it was just the tone of the novel that did not sit well with me.

Another run-of-the-mill omg my parents kept huge secrets from me let's freak the eff out!... go back to your hometown and immediately run into hunky guy who falls for you immediately but oh noes! he has TOO MUCH BAGGAGE...oh and throw in the independent, sassy, impulsive teenage daughter...ugh. Despite the dark themes it turned into much more of a beach read than I was hoping for.
