I hadn't read Lorde, and this was a great introduction to her work. I was mostly so-so on the poetry (but I'm mostly so-so on poetry in general), but I found her prose to be marvelous. I think she may write about as clearly and directly as any nonfiction author I've read, without sacrificing lyricism or, to use a sort of abstract word for it, heart. Even her journal entries read as if well polished.

i feel like my thoughts are a jumbled mess. the proses of this book come straight and strong. leaving me with thoughts that i have yet to process fully. i desire this book again and again to fully learn and understand.

the poems i dont not understand, i am new to appercating poetry. the meanings and stories go over my head but i am excited for re-reads with research (as i currently do not have any service). with better context i will grow more fond of audre lorde and her work and her influence. i have much more to learn as a white feminist and i am going to do the work to do so.
