It's a rarity for me, but I think this one was better than the first. I finally got the older version of Arthur and Ben that I was looking for in the first book. The beginning took a little while to set up and get through, I think mostly because it fell victim to the 2nd book syndrome of feeling like they need to explain literally every little thing that happened in the first book through the characters remembering it rather than trusting the reader to have read the first book. However, if you want to read this book without reading the first one, I guess you can do that with the way they spoon fed you the entirety of the first book. After you get through that frustrating 1/4 of the book, it really starts to ramp up. There's SO MUCH tension and awkwardness that I could feel it. I just wanted to many times to shake them (again) and scream at them to just TALK ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS YOU EMOTIONALLY CONSTIPATED GREMLINS! The ending was so perfect though. The epilogue did scare me in the first couple of lines but quickly turned into me screaming at how cute it was and busting all of the uwus. Read this book. Love this book.

Perfect sequel, absolutely no notes. I could read about Ben and Arthur again and again. Such a perfectly told queer love story and I’m shocked I was able to hold back tears as long as I did but those last few pages really got me. “Sometimes, what if’s come true”

I love that they end up together but some of the writing is just so so cringe. I was listening to it as an audiobook and found myself thinking I was watching a badly written TV Show. Like looking up and going “who wrote this?” But all in all a cute story and a good way to wrap up the story. A cute little happily ever after.

A welcome return to this sweet relationship between Ben and Arthur. Their charming supporting cast of characters is also back, as are new love interests. Albertalli and Silvera do a good job of making everyone likable. It's a realistic portrayal of young people trying to find their way back to each other, learn to communicate their needs better. I thought I would be more upset by the handling of the new boyfriends, but everyone treats each other with kindness and respect. I appreciate that in a book when so many books are filled with trauma these days. So, if you want to laugh and fall in love, this is the book for you. Also, if you love New York City, this is a must-read because some great NYC places show up in this book.
