one of my new favorite YA contemporaries. i loved the conversations around biphobia and bi erasure. loved darcy, even when she was a mess (such a realistic depiction of a 16 mess tho!) loved all the rep we got, and loved the writing.

This was cute. A pretty standard YA romance novel, nothing out of the box though. I enjoyed the bi rep, especially a bi girl actually dating a boy (at least in my experience most writers have bi peeps end up in queer relationships, which is fine, but ya know). I also liked that it was actually discussed, and how she feared it would erase her identity in some people's eyes.

This was just way too cute, I loved the chemistry between Darcy and Brougham. And it was actually the first book I read about a bisexual character where the opposite sex was the love interest. Which is kind of insane considering I read a lot of books about and with bisexuals. But I guess that totally represents the point about biphobia this book makes: that a lot of people think bisexuals being with the opposite sex is less queer than them being with the same sex. Which is so fucking stupid because your sexuality stays the same no matter who you date. Truly wish there were more bisexuals in straight relationships in book. Honestly I would love to read about bi girl being with a bi guy... but I guess authors don't dare to write that because they know such a couple would be too powerful.

I saw another review that said they wanted more steam, but it's YA, and too much more than what happened in here would not have been appropriate. I am an adult and do not want to read child-porn!

With that out of the way, I thought the book was cute, and it definitely tugged on my heartstrings. It also irritated me in some ways, some good (characters learning lessons they need to learn the hard way) and other times in not good ways due to some heavy handedness and such.
