This series is very fun. And I had my mom look at the first volume, which she promptly read even though manga is very much not her thing, and she said it was quite accurate! I think she got a kick out of how all the different cells and things were represented.

The cells are still hard at work, this time against a few different attackers. First, the blood cells have to fight off food poisoning from bacteria but also a tape worm hidden inside sushi, and it threatens to break through the stomach wall! Next, the body undergoes heat stress, which makes it difficult to fight off bacteria, especially ones that have their own heat protection. Red Blood Cell gets lost on a delivery (again) and finds herself in the Bone Marrow where red and white blood cells are nurtured through their young lives before they become mature red or white blood cells. This detour takes Red Blood Cell down memory lane, to her own upbringing. Lastly, the immune system must fight off the deadly, mutated cancer cells that trick the body into bringing it nutrients so it can multiply faster.
This volume definitely tugged at the heartstrings a lot more than volume one. With baby Red Blood Cell-San, any parental and protective instincts are awakened in the reader as a mature bacterium goes after the tiny “child,” but she is saved by a pre-white blood cell... Could this be White Blood Cell-San? With the cancer cells, the topic hits close to home for anyone who has lost someone to cancer. The main cancer cell and White Blood Cell have a bit of a heartfelt moment of lament for his fate, and he tells White Blood Cell that he will return to kill him. Anyone with knowledge of cancer knows this rings eerily true.

En la línea del anterior. Nuevos personajes, nuevas enfermedades y mucha biología e inmunología (aunque, quizá, con menos guiños que en el primer tomo). Algo que no comenté en el anterior es el dibujo que, a parte de dejarnos muy buenas escenas de acción, tiene mucho detalle en general. Estoy deseando que saquen ya el tercer tomo.

I'm seriously loving this series! It's so fun! I love seeing the White Blood Cell be a total badass. Also never EVER thought I'd like Cancer, but Cancer looks freaking cool!!!

An sich finde ich das Thema super interessant und ich mag einen der Charaktere sehr, aber bei diesem Band merkte ich einfach, dass es doch ein wenig zu sehr auf einen Humor ausgelegt ist, der mir nicht liegt.
In diesem Teil lernt man vor allem die verschiedenen weißen Blutkörperchen kennen. Allerdings war dies doch etwas kompliziert erklärt und die Art und Weise wie diese mit einander umgegangen sind fand ich einfach albern. Mein liebster Charakter ist weiterhin das weiße Blutkörperchen, dass schon in Band 1 eine der Hauptrollen gespielt hat. Ich finde ihn von seiner Art her einfach sympathisch. Das rote Blutkörperchen, dass die zweite Hauptrolle in Band 1 hatte, spielt hier auch wieder eine große Rolle. Sie wird allerdings eher als tolpatschig und naiv dargestellt, so das sie mich nicht weiter beeindruckte.
Hauptsächlich geht es in diesem Band um die Entstehung der verschiedenen Bestandteile des Blutes und wie der Körper gegen Bakterien, Viren und Krebszellen ankämpft. Den Actionpart fand ich eher anstrengend und durch den aufgesetzten Humor in Verbindung mit Gewalt machte der mir wenig Spaß. Wenn mich der Inhalt nicht so interessieren würde, dann hätte ich die Reihe wohl abgebrochen.
Der Zeichenstil ist okay. Teilweise finde ich ihn richtig gut, dann wirken manche Figuren wieder proportional unangemessen gezeichnet. Außerdem habe ich Probleme mit der Darstellung mancher Bereiche. Vor allem da alles eben wie in Gebäuden dargestellt wird. Das machte für mich wenig Sinn und verwirrte mich teilweise.
Ich werde dem dritten Band noch eine Chance geben aber dann werde ich die Reihe wohl abbrechen, wenn sich nichts gravierend ändert.
