DNF

Not a great book. Poor story, poor execution, poor writing. The MC talks like a child, there's secrets that really don't have to be secret but for the sake of the plot it's there. There's this random guy that seems to be the only one that knows something is wrong with MC which is weird. And I can't get over how immature and confusing the writing style is. In the end I didn't finish the book.

I really enjoyed this. I do wonder if I would've loved it as much had it not been an audiobook listen, but at this point it doesn't much matter. I was driving for a road trip and needed a good story to keep me engaged and awake, and this did a fantastic job, and was entertaining.

There are parts of the story that feel a bit rough, where the logic didn't feel solid. However, I generally really enjoyed the character dynamics (except maybe Jacky and her father, that felt like it dragged the story down too much, without enough development). I also liked the action and intrigue presented in this book. Oddly enough, the world set-up and the mythos of the story isn't my favorite. It doesn't happen to draw me in further. I say oddly enough, because usually that is what happens for me with fantasy novels. Perhaps this set-up is too similar to other world-buildings, but regardless, this one just runs middle of the road. The character dynamics and set-up feel a bit like Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series.

To be entirely fair, I am a bit afraid that this book had more flaws that would've stood out more had I not been multi-tasking with the driving. Anytime I pick up a book that is on Kindle Unlimited, I am never expecting brilliance. I wouldn't call this brilliance, but I do think it exceeds most KU books, so I'm a little unsure if my listening whilst driving was the factor in play, sort of keeping me distracted/missing some of the issues.

I do intend to continue on with the series, but now that my road-trip is complete I have to decide whether audiobook or ebook is my route of choice...

A nice little twist in a werewolf story. The female is a werecat and she has an oath to keep. I enjoyed this book and will continue the series! If you enjoy a good “who is doing this?” Mystery with some action. You stumbled upon a new series!

Ugh. I loved this. Absolutely ate this shit up. Love our FMC, love our (potential) love interest, LOVE the found family. Loved it all.

The FMC was actually pretty different from most paranormal urban fantasy FMCs in that she's not a bounty hunter or some badass merc. She just owns a bar. So she had totally normal reactions and freakouts when placed under the stress of this plotline lmao. But she was definitely still badass. I love her. I don't usually like books that involve kids, but even I liked this cute little maternal instinct moment. It was very cute. And I love our mr alpha dad, verrrryyyy excited to see where that goes.

This book was different from other shifter books. I enjoyed the plot and the characters. Looking forward to the next book.

This was a wicked good book. Especially considering it’s the first book.
