The second book on the adventures of Sam, female geologist in a man's world. She is back in South America, and finds herself in a sinister plan involving Nazi's, while coping with personal upsets and friends in danger.
A more rounded book than the second, with more depth to the characters. Personal and external issues are tied together in a satisfying way. Nice to see a strong female character managing with a high level of competence and humour.

As always I want to start by saying that I was given an ARC of this to review as part of a @lovebooktours book tour. My review is honest and left voluntarily. Thank you as well to @Samharriesseries #LBTCrew #Ad #Gifted #LoveBooksTours

I think it is safe to say Sam Harris is really up there now with some of my nostalgic fictional explorers. From Indiana Jones, Allan Quartermain and Lara Croft it’s safe to say Ms Harris has earned her place. Hitler’s Finger is the second in the Sam Harris series and was arguably just as good if not a little better than the first. When Sam’s friend Alfredo Vargas goes missing Sam of course stops at nothing to find him with the help or her Best friend Gloria. Add to this a Nazi conspiracy that needs uncovering and you have another rip roaring adventure with Sam.
I particularly liked the touches of science fiction into this one, at first I was worried it may be out of place but I am glad to say it was brilliantly done. As always Skinner keeps the plot paced and tightly woven meaning you just need to find out what happens next. I particularly liked the return of characters from the first adventure and the way we saw their character evolve and I hope we continue to see them along the way.
The only thing that did frustrate me, which it was meant to I know, was Simon and Hannah. As always I avoid spoilers in my reviews but it is safe to say I had really hoped something would happen to Simon. I suppose there is time and a girl can hope!
This book contains just as much action and adventure as the first and continued to deliver an Indiana Jones-esque storyline – arguably more so with the inclusion of the Nazi’s. It also made the situation that more Deadly. In Fool’s Gold Sam really only had one person to worry about but here there a several very dangerous people all determined to keep their secrets safe. Another brilliant entry that I would recommend to any action adventure fan.

‘Hitler’s Finger’ is a brilliant follow-up to ‘Fool’s Gold’ and I devoured it, I was so eager to read it that somehow the book ended up giving me a paper cut! That my peeps is a dedication to one's art! Once again this is a rollercoaster of a plotline as we return to Sierramar - we have a mystery, a missing boyfriend, a mixed-up Sam and Nazis! Yes Nazis, as if you couldn't tell from the title.
Sam is back in England and receives a phone call in the middle of the night from Gloria saying that Alfredo has gone missing and could she come back to Sierramar to help with the search. She leaves her stupid excuse for a boyfriend and hops on the next plane! Alfredo had been doing some work for a historian, Saul, on whether Nazis came to Sierramar after the end of the second world war. It turns out they did and Alfredo and Saul head into the jungle to see if they can locate them. Of course, they go missing and it's up to Gloria and Sam to find them…
I thoroughly enjoyed this second outing for Sam and the gang. Although, this is a heightened story for entertainment's sake we all know that some of the stories ring true about the fleeing of Nazis to South America after the war. I could fully empathise with Saul and his story. You should google Simon Gronowski and about the train in February 1943 that is the inspiration behind this character. Also at the same time look up La Cumbrecit. Can you tell I went down numerous rabbit holes, which shows how interesting this plotline was?!
I loved returning to characters which captured my interest from the first book, Gloria and Alfredo. You can't help but like them despite all their foibles. Sam is the strong cord that keeps them on the straight and narrow. I hope that Simon gets his comeuppance in the next book as urgh what a horrid man!
Roll on the next one as I am already having withdrawal symptoms!

This is the second book in the Sam Harris adventure series and it did not disappoint!
I thought there was a lot more adventure in this book compared to book one. I really liked that it is fast paced and there is a lot going on in terms of plot (I don’t want to say too much about the plot as I think there is an element of mystery to this story that I don’t want to spoil!).
I really loved seeing the lengths Sam would go to for the people she cares about. Her character seemed a lot more sure of herself than in the previous novel. It was also nice to see her fighting back the people she comes into conflict with. I still think Sam has a lot more to give as a character. I’m looking forward to (hopefully) seeing her grow as the series progresses, and I do hope her love life improves!
I would recommend this book to lovers of adventure/ action novels.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story, reuniting with Sam Harris and her Sierramar adventures. I loved Skinner's first novel Fool's Gold and Hitler's Finger was more of the same. Hitler's Finger reminded me of the classic 70s movies The Boys From Brazil, Marathon Man, and The Odessa File tracking down Nazi's well after the Second World War had ended. An excellent read and I've already bought the third in the series.
