Olivia is on her way to pitch to a venture capitalist company. Seeking investment within her dating app E-volve, however, she's running late. It doesn't help that she trips over someone just outside the building. Something about the man brings out her fighting spirit and sees her clambering to get away from him.

Hoping that the pitch has gone well she makes plans with her friend Luke, who works for the company and has been helping her get the pitch meeting. Dinner doesn't go to plan and she finds herself seeking food elsewhere. Refused entry she is about to leave when the man from this morning turns up and invites her to have dinner. Bickering and flirting with each other they leave together however Beckett puts an end to things before they go too far - much to the annoyance of Olivia.

Things get worse for Olivia when she arrives for a follow-up pitch meeting to find out that Beckett will be the one conducting the meeting. Telling her details of how Luke has played her and persuaded his father to let her pitch so that he could get on her good side. If that wasn't bad enough Beckett suddenly offers her a proposition - marry him for six months and he'll invest the money that she needs for her company.

There is a fine line between love and hate as Olivia and Beckett discover, but are they willing to let their guards down long enough to let the other one in?

Olivia and Beckett’s story is definitely not a love at first sight tale. Their chemistry is explosive and their cup runneth over with witty banter and snark. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them push each other’s buttons. An entertaining example of a fine line between love and hate.

This was a successful collaboration between Donna Alam, Mackenzie Cartwright and Shane East. Mackenzie and Shane did an amazing job of bringing Donna’s wonderful characters and this enemies to lovers story to life.

MMC is hot and cold for the WHOLE BOOK, up until the end.
The chemistry is only sexual, the dialogues are awful and really there's not a plot in sight.
At 24% it got boring to read more or less the same scenes over and over again, without going anywhere really. Well, it stays the same for the whole book.
Why did I finish it?

this was yet another MOC, and I have to say it was rather droll. there wasn't much substance to the characters, not any development to them at all. despite this, though it was an addicting read and I couldn't put it down,,,

2.5 stars :)

I would like to first thank Donna for personally approaching me--upon the recommendation by a fellow audiobook lover--, offering me the chance to listen to an Advanced Listener Copy of To Have & Hate. I appreciate it! This review is written with full honesty.

------------

I haven't had the pleasure to read this story, written by Donna Alam, so this was my first encounter with the characters. And what a way to do it than with my favourite narrator co-narrating. Yes, it's none other than Mr Shane East. More on him later.

Immediately after being emailed and asked if I was willing to listen to this audiobook, I hopped on the web to see what it was all about. There was no way I wasn't saying yes when Shane was involved, but I was curious as to what the storyline alluded to from the blurb. Right off the bat, we were promised a fake relationship/marriage of convenience. Sign. Me. Up! I could've stopped here after reading the first few lines of the blurb--which are also extracts from within the book--, as those lines were more than enough to convince me to say yes to listening. Still, I read on.

Alpha male, check. Strangers to Lovers, check. Independent woman, check. Hate to Love, check.

Shane East and Mackenzie Cartwright did Donna justice, and I can say this even without having read the book before hand to compare it to and back it up with. Hearing the story first before reading it wasn't something I've done before, but Shane and Mackenzie--two narrators I've listened to before--guided me in nicely and set the scene, tone, and told the story superbly. There isn't anything that Shane can't narrate, and he really gave it his all and managed to convey what I expect Donna had envisioned that Beckett would be when she wrote him. His--Beckett's--personality shone through, made me mad at times when he was so hard-headed and typical alpha male, while at the same time making me fall head over heels. Much like how Olivia and Beckett met. Mackenzie's voice is always a pleasant balm to listen to, and I've missed hearing her in the audiobooks I have been listening to. She was perfect for the role of Olivia. I could hear the fire, fierceness and stubborn independence in her tone, echoing the character, and her attempt at a British accent--copying Shane's accent when reading Beckett's parts in her POV--, brilliant!

Bonus kudos to Donna for injecting comedic moments into the storyline. Alpha males and strong females often clash a lot, which means the angst we love so much, but I'm a reader who loves a book that also makes her laugh (and sometimes giggle-snorting very ungracefully), and there were times within this book that with the help of Shane and Mackenzie, brought light and comedic relief. Thank you for that, Donna.

Though this was the first time of encountering Donna Alam, I'm very proud to say that it won't be my last. She is a lovely person in the interactions we've had, a talented author and I'm definitely going to be doing my research to see which of her books I'm going to be adding to my TBR next.

Five stars!

This was pretty good. Better than I expected it to be.
I liked Beckett hes a complicated character and I don't think hes developed enough really.
Olivia I wasn't sure about. She was a little too bitchy and just seemed a bit unaware of everything. Felt a little odd.

The first time Olivia met Beckett she tripped over his feet, words were shared but she was in a hurry and kept about her business.
The second time Olivia saw Beckett she was trying to get into a swanky restaurant while they were trying to shoo her away.  Really she was starving and wanting to drown her sorrows and Beckett stepped in and shared a dinner with her, even goading her throughout and enjoying the snarkier side of her temper.

The third time she met with Beckett it was believing her company she started was about to be invested in, which she desperately needed as she had run through all her capital.  What was laid out was an offer of marriage for six months, help with her company and several thoughts about murdering the infuriating man who while he seemed to enjoy riling her up she also wanted to jump his bones.  Will she take the deal or walk away?

This  is one of those books you savor, you want more of as it winds to an end.   The banter, the chemistry, the laugh out loud moments had me ready to reread again.  Truly enjoyable and I liked that Beckett shares his flaws, he is conflicted because Olivia he can't work out of his system she enthralls him.  Had everything I look for in a excellent book.

Great Book

I really enjoyed this book. It was my first one by this author and I was really impressed. The banter between Beckett and Olivia was really enjoyable. I did get a little frustrated with the characters here and there but overall it was really good. I just wish the epilogue went a bit further into the future.
