Enjoyed this so much, the audiobook was perfect and having him tell his story was a joy from start to finish. Greenlight.

Pretty full of himself but a great story teller and a really entertaining one.
Listen to it on audiobook - Matthew McConaughey does the narration himself and it's excellent

Absolute must on audio, his pacing and story telling were incredible.

Did leave me wondering how ethical method acting is, but I enjoyed the ride nonetheless.

This was a GOOD TIME.  He can weave a tale like a tapestry.  Some of his stories are thoughtful. Some are insightful. And many are downright hilarious.  This did not sound like a book, but rather like sitting in and listening to him just...talk.  This book would have been 5 ⭐️ but there were several times I was like "wait, what?" But, honestly, even those times were fun.

Many other reviews described this as "another narcissist celebrity rambling on." I would absolutely understand that to be the case if I was trying to read this.  I think there would be less good times and more "what?".

10/10 would recommend this to ANYONE wanting a damn good audiobook.

Matthew McConaughey is a poet, a romantic, a fantastic writer, and a philosopher.

Per McConaughey's words, this is not a memoir in the traditional sense. This is not a self help book. This is more of his philosophy of life. Greenlights. Life is full of Greenlights. Sometimes Greenlights are disguised as Yellowlights and Redlights, but we should focus on the Greenlights. The ones we were lucky to catch, to be at the right time and place, and those Greenlights we make for ourselves.

He uses stories of his life, poems, prayers, prescriptions and bumper stickers, to help explain the stories of his life, ending them always on a good note. "Greenlight"

I do feel the book lost its poetic touch towards the end. Maybe I became too familiar with his style or maybe he lost steam. I listened to the audiobook, read by McConaughey. It felt like he was doing a screen test and the story came to life.

I do not believe in writing in books, but you do believe in it, read this with a highlighter.
