also read for my school's readathon!

it's a very short read, just a compilation of a bunch of short stories. it's definitely diverse. my one thing is that some of the stories are ABSOLUTE BANGERS (like the last one, "Superhuman"), while others are just a bit slow/boring.

this is definitely aimed at a much younger demographic. there's some interesting stories, but too much young teenage love for someone my age.

I honestly didn't like this book as much as I thought I would. I was actually really hoping to love it, but that is not the case. Overall, I only really liked about 3 of the stories, the play, and the graphic novel. The others just didn't spark my interest. Even though this book isn't a favorite of mine I'm still going to keep it around so I can reread it in the future and hopefully like it more then than I do right now.

A nice read. I'm interested in reading more from this organization and am glad it exists, even if some stories naturally weren't my specific jam. The stories I liked best were the following, and the ones in bold are my favorite:

Eraser Tattoo by Jason Reynolds
Meet Cute by Malindo Lo (though the X-Files/Star Trek references were above me)
Don't Pass Me By by Eric Gansworth (Probably my #1)
Why I learned to Cook by Sara Farizan (
Spoiler a shout-out for bi representation!
)
Catch, Pull, Drive by Schulyer Bailar
Super Human by Nicola Yoon

Some really good short stories. I like these anthologies because I get to see many authors writing styles in one place.

I’ve been reading a lot of anthologies this year, but there hasn’t been one that every story has made me feel something like Fresh Ink did. I laughed out loud, cried and wished that I had magic powers to help make this world an equal place for everyone. This book has filled its pages to the brim with a mix of diversity.

There’s 13 stories each different but a joy!
I read Aminah Mae Safi other book that came out this year and loved her short story just as much.
While, Sara Farizan is new to me author that I can’t wait to look into because I just love her short story, Why I Learned to Cook.
A Boy’s Duty by Sharon G. Flake was the biggest surprise for me. When I started reading it I wasn’t sure if I would like it but it turned out to be one of my favorite in this book.
I could sit here and go on and on about each story but I won’t.

Just know that this book is a must read, it’s pack with truth, happiness, and sadness. It’s built upon what our world is like. It sucks so much to know that I live in a world that looks like whats on these pages. But it’s books and people like this that are helping to change our world. I’m proud to be part of that change, happy to be a person who believes that everyone is equal and have the right to be themselves. I will be telling people to read this book for years to come.

I was given an ARC copy of this book, however, these are 100% my honest thoughts on this book.
