I didn’t like it as much as I wanted to. I wish that the Romance was a bit more and to find out why the age of flowers was so harmful/great.

This was just a super well developed fantasy book that kept me invested from page 1. Super interesting and compelling main characters who were all bad ass women. Also, there was a sapphic romance at the heart of the story that was really lovely to read. I absolutely love Priya as a main character and am also obsessed with Buhmaka. I do feel that this book was longer than it needed to be. There were like 3 separate huge plot points that occur within the story and after each of those 3 points I felt like the book could have come to a natural stopping point but it just kept addressing primary conflict after primary conflict so it did start to drag quite a bit at the end. Regardless of that, I will definitely be reading book 2 and seeing where all these characters end up. Would absolutely recommend this one to anyone who enjoys fantasy.

my five stars are very conditional on how the rest of the series goes but loved this installment.

I really wanted to like this book but I just wasn’t in the right headspace for it at the time and I’ve left it unfinished for so long at this point I don’t think I’ll go back.
