I bought this based on a few pages of previews and the excellent graphic design those pages showed. And the book delivers on the pencils, inks, and colors. López draws exciting action scenes with great character designs, fascinating superhero props, and interesting backgrounds.

But the story doesn't work in so many ways. Characters are undermotivated or cliche, scenes shift with little logic, and the whole thing needs a slower or clearer touch. If you're going to tell a story about how "everything changes", you need some time on the before if the after is going to have any emotional impact, and López is not taking that time.

I would love to see López's art in service of a tighter story, but - based on this volume - I'm not interested in reading more of his writing.

Very interesting take on the future of superheroes and villains... and some people that might be both? A good start to a new series, I'm looking forward to more.
