This was incredibly hard to read, especially as it becomes increasingly clear that the parents just do not give a shit about their children.

I enjoyed this story because Haywood was able to depict her childhood clearly, but with the insight of present time. The descriptions of life at sea were detailed enough to provide the reader with adventure, and a healthy fear of the ocean.

Overall, an interesting story for fans of nautical tales and unconventional childhoods.
