I enjoyed the frame tale of differeing poems and stories. While author gave homage to the traditional tales, he gave some interesting twists and new takes on old favorites, and I enjoyed the writing style immensely. It truly did evoke a sense of telling stories around a campfire. This book would be a great read for lovers of all things magical, especially young adults and those that love the optimism of the hope of magic.

I have bumped into this book completely incidentally. It is not an ARC but I got my copy of NetGalley. I thought: 'huh, I like that cover... it has a vintage AD&D PHB vibe - I can dip into something that like that for a change'.

Not sure what the publisher or an artist (or the author) were thinking about - but this cover has nothing to do with the contents of the book. No connection whatsoever.

Instead, you get a compilation of (very) short stories and a couple of poems really nicely written, vivid and engaging language - got me hooked straight up. Most of the stories are set in the modern time with prominent themes of urban mystery / fantasy and horror. But again, brilliantly executed! This book reminded me the most the short stories you typically get from [a:Neil Gaiman|1221698|Neil Gaiman|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1234150163p2/1221698.jpg] or mythos of [a:H. P. This looks like a very small publication and deserves all the love it can get. 5*. Check it out!
