3.5
This is a 3.5, rounded up. Unfortunately, Behind the Net didn't speak to me as much as the Rhodes Brothers did. I think Pippa was a little too fragile and Jamie a little too smoldering. Their physical chemistry was off the charts, but even with split povs I kept thinking that I was missing something to the story.
I love the premise, that they were mutually smitten in high school but nothing came of it, that Pippa's sunshine balances Jamie's grumpy, and the assistant/boss dynamic. It just didn't add up to something that really held onto me.
It's still very well written, and as obvious by the overwhelmingly positive response Behind the Net still scored with a lot of readers. I will absolutely read the next one, and I stand by my belief that Stephanie is a killer author who deserves way more hype than she gets ♥️

Spicy Level: 3 🔥
"Behind the Net" is a hockey romance that had me on the edge of my seat, begging for more!
The story is about Jamie and Pippa, who have a history from high school. When Jamie returns to their hometown as a pro hockey player, Pippa becomes his personal assistant. Their chemistry is electric, and their shared love for Daisy is everything! I totally enjoyed the grumpy sunshine dynamic between Jamie and Pippa, as well as the slow-burn romance that keeps you turning the pages.
The spice level... 🔥🔥🔥 it got me buzzing with excitement!
The story is a perfect balance between romance, spice, humor, and personal growth.
It is a feel-good book that left me with a smile on my face.
Stephanie Archer has once again proven her talent for creating captivating stories that leave an impression.
