This was a fun read that while slightly predictable still had some good moments in it. I weirdly like Megan even though I disagreed with some of her actions, which could at times be immature. Nonetheless I felt for her and was rooting for her. Also Owen is adorable so yes please on that note

This is my life...

Megan is me. I can’t explain it but I relate to her on so many levels and while I struggled to get into the book at first, I couldn’t put it down once I realized. I felt like I was reading a story about my life. I only hope that I can find my Owen lol

Likes
-i like how the main character, Megan is not ashamed of her sex life and outgoing "boycrazy" personality. Also her character development was great.
-owen is my favorite he's cute and nerdy. I also loved the depth and how he takes care of his younger brother for his mom
-black gay best friend Anthony, I loved his character arc. His fight with Megan highlighting struggles he faces (not being casted as a lead at other schools due to his race/sexuality, other guys not wanting to room with him because of him being gay, not knowing if hitting on someone will make them laugh at him ect)
-the presence of a normal family (not everything was peaches and creme)

Dislikes?
-not really a dislike but we didn't get to find out what Owen was going to do after hs. The whole time I was expecting to find out that he was also in the play to gain an acting credit like Megan for college possibly SOTI
-it was slightly predictable who Megan would end up but I'm 100% okay with it.

Overall
I really enjoyed this story. The characters were given fuller backgrounds, and we didn't just learn of conflicts that involved Megan. Ex. Anthony and Eric. The ending was slightly predictable, but don't we love that about contemporary. Really cute, funny story.

Reread October 2020: I still really like this book. Megan is so different from most other female protagonists in YA romance and this time even Madeleine didn´t bother me too much. I understand why she had to be this way. On the other hand, I didn´t like how Megan looked at Owen´s long-distance relationship. Cosima was one of my main complaints when I was first reading this book and I still think it was kind of unnecessary to include her... But you´ll have to form your own opinion when you (hopefully) read this book too.

God, Owen is so sweet!!! He is the reason I´ll round up my 4.5s rating for he is the first male character in a long time making it straight to my bookish boyfriend list.

Also, I had only very minor complaints about the story. Megan is an extremely fascinating character with many facets and interesting development. I always like when cliches are turned upside down and you don´t get your typical inexperienced shy girl who believes in true love.
Furthermore, I think the author did a great job weaving the theatre aspect into the story. It wasn´t overly descriptive, but a lot of stuff that goes into stage production was mentioned and therefore, Megan's passion for directing got very realistic and understandable. And I loved the new interpretation of Juliet!

Unfortunately, I had some small problems with the secondary characters. Not that they are badly written or uninteresting, it´s just that there are a lot of them ranging from high school rival to her mother's new boyfriend. That´s why we hardly get to see more than one or two dimensions of them. Particularly disappointing were Madeleine (´perfect´ was her only character trait and I got soo tired of hearing it) and Cosima (honestly, I don´t even understand why she existed).

Additionally, I skimmed through a few scenes dealing with family drama, although this only shows how engaged I was in the love story. Funnily, at first, I wasn´t really shipping the two, but the more I got to know them the more I wanted them to end up with each other. It was perfectly slow-burn and yes, maybe there was a bit of unnecessary drama, but that only added to the tension that was going on between them. LOVED IT!

In the end, all I can say is that I read a great deal of YA contemporary romance to finally find one that could live up to Kasie West´s books and this is the one that got nearest. I 100% recommend.
