The main character Rhys was the most dull of the lot in these. Ashling, Brigid, Maralen, Sygg, the faeries and even the giant brothers felt like they had a lot more personality than Rhys's "My Honor!!?!" schtick.
The elves in this book are awful. They're classist and sort of slavers. They are the main reason my rating isn't higher as their sections were brutal and given the first book is mainly focused on Rhys, an elf, and his interactions with his kin, it's hard to avoid it even if he is not as bad as the rest.
That being said, the plot was serviceable and I definitely loved learning some lore for one of my favourite blocks in MtG.
