at first i was really enjoying this book, but it started to fall flat for me around the halfway-ish mark. it became quite predictable in a frustrating way and the ending felt unsatisfying.

i did not expect to feel THIS seen when i started this book. i really enjoyed the writing style and distinct voice that novak lent to her main character. 

i just turned 28 and this really made me reflect on my twenties so far. it was scary to see how much i used to have in common with penny in the beginning and how mirrored i felt in the epilogue.

Very easy read, enjoyable and relatively light, heavy on the sardonic humour. A little too alcohol-soaked for my taste, and pushing the Melbourne references to the absolute limit of charming, but fun and surprisingly insightful.
If I’m honest I maybe wasn’t obsessed with it because it reflected my own flaws and mental health back at me a little too clearly!
