This one was still good but not quite as funny or as light as the first one. this gets into a little darker themes and a little more serious content. Not bad, it was still pretty good, but I didn't like it like I did the first one.

Gah! Such a disappointment ...

As is often the case, Henry moved from charming and adorable (in book 1) to annoying. I was initially excited about the introduction of Viola but ultimately disappointed. Viola came across as a caricature which I also found quite annoying. There were elements of the plot that were felt highly unlikely. I loved the first book ... this one, not so much.

I wish that I were a bigger fan of mystery novels. I think if I were, I would LOVE this series. These books are fast paced, the characters are zany and flawed (but in a good way), and the dialogue is snappy like a Gilmore Girls episode. Unfortunately, since I'm really here for the growing romance between Mac and Henry/Sebastian, I can appreciate the craft behind all the fun twists and cliffhanger endings, but I don't LOVE them like many of you will.

CURSES!! I literally could not put this down nor did I want this thrill ride to end where it did. Thank God for snow days to be honest or I wouldn't have been able to part my eyes from the page. I am desperate to read the next installment, it's ridiculous. This was so fucking awesome.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. Henry is adorable and irritating at the same time and MAC is just a FBI teddy bear who is trying to do right by everyone. Scooby doo shenanigans with heart. I laughed alot reading this and am straight on to the final book.

I've just finished the audio and it was great. I loved it just as much, if not more.
SpoilerI'd completely forgotten about the cross dressing sex scene.
It was great!

I forgot everything that happened in first book, so I had to reread.
I wrote in my review of first part that this has to be the most mainstream thing these authors wrote, but they abandoned their formula here- funny and charming tone is exchanged for more serious and angsty one. The reason for my rating is mostly because I didn't like direction authors took with Henry's character- I liked that he was resourceful and charming and sly in first book. Here he was moody and got through some behavioral crisis. It didn't add another layer to his character as much as it changed the wrapping for me.*
Mystery was not very challenging, but twist was introduced and it should make a fun reading in book #3.

*horrible pun penalty.
Just roll with it and I'll see myself out.
