This book is straight up magic. I believed in Amina, I liked her, I wanted her to win. This was so well written, well paced, colorful in both language used and descriptions. I whole heartedly recommend

This book embraces tropes from fantasy and heist media while still managing to be completely new and interesting. How could you ask for more than a Muslim lady-pirate pulled out of retirement for one last job embarking on a swashbuckling magical adventure peppered with history of the Indian Ocean during the 12th century? Be warned this book read more like YA than adult fiction, but I still found it incredibly enthralling.

Such a fun pirate story. Great blend of magic and history with a lot of interesting lore in the Muslim/Indian Ocean areas which I’m largely unfamiliar with. Looking forward to more in this series!

I enjoyed it!! Fun and a good swashbuckle. Maybe a little too much supernatural sometimes, and sometimes I wish they’d used the right pronouns
