I can see why people like Terry Prachett, but his style is just not for me. I couldn't care less about the story or characters.

I've been in a reading slump for months, and this book has finally busted it. It is quintessential Pratchett, archetypal Discworld storytelling. Post Office V Internet, in a battle of values which has only grown more relevant in a time of social media and morally bankrupt financial systems. Moist is an excellent protagonist, deeply flawed, but capable of redemption in the best possible way. There isn't a weak link in the supporting characters, not a beat which doesn't land. I twice belly laughed, I repeatedly smiled, and on occasion I cried- mostly because I know I'm nearing the end of the Discworld books now. I will of course reread them, and I imagine I'll come back to this more often than most. Phenomenal storytelling by a master of the craft

I'm not gonna lie, I liked this way more than I thought I would.
Anyway, I've tried reading Discworld books several other times and couldn't get into them, so I'm glad I finally made it happen, and I'm sure now that I've warmed up to the writing style, it'll be easier.

Bottom line, this book is funny as hell, has a lot of heart, and the main character's name is Moist. What's not to love?

FINALLY reading a Discworld book!!
I'm in a fantasy mood since I just finished Priory of the Orange Tree (aka the longest book known to mankind), and I'm also in the mood for fun, quippy, funny writing. Let's see how it goes. Fingers crossed I like this so I can finally be "in" with fantasy nerds crowd.
