As much as I love this series this book just didn't do it for me. The plot didn't hold my attention. The couple moved way too fast and every time you turn around they are having sex. Don't get me wrong I'm no prude but they go from fighting their attraction, to sleeping together, to being unsure about the future, back to sleeping together and it just made my head spin. I wanted to feel their connection but it just didn't happen for me at all. As much as I wanted to love this story it just didn't work out in my favor. Please don't let my review stop you from reading.

Jake is here!!!

I have been waiting for this book.

Yes that cover is the perfect picture for the scorching hot visual of my man Jake!

As soon as you begin reading, you are thrown into a world of wolves, vampires and witches that will keep you entertained from the first to last page.

Believe me you won't be able to put it down.

A visually verbally stunning read filled with tons of  and unexpected twists.

Jake & Kai are super hot together.

Was sooo happy to see Jake find his mate with Kai.

Go One click & prepare to take the ride with Jake finding his own.

I usually read Grosso's books in one day. This book took much longer. I would have never thought that the phrases "My Alpha" and "Oh Goddess" could be used so many times. I'm almost tempted to count the number of times it was used. It made the book read as one of those cheesy $1 store romance novels. If filler words were needed, more history of the Pixiu could have been given. I had to FORCE myself to finish this book.

I feel bad that I gave this book under 4 stars (I am also in the minority here!) but I didn't really enjoy this book all that much. I saw myself skimming a lot and had to force myself to finish. This is only the 3rd book I've read and went back and noticed I also gave lower scores on those too.

The story starts with Jake at crossroads with what he wants in his life, his wolf is urging him to become alpha but the human side knows he would either have to kill his alpha in New Orleans or leave and go back to San Diego where he was the temporary alpha. Since I've only read book 1 and 3 in this series (and this is book 8) I was in the dark on why he was the temporary alpha and why he left. This may be one of the reasons why I did not connect with this story. He then meets Kai who he is drawn to but a bit leery of her, especially since she attacks him (she was weak and could not stop herself). She is swooped in and taken away by a vampire, Quin (who Jake had an altercation with previously) and this is where the story sort of takes off. There is a lot of internal struggles of being mates or not, being alpha or not, shifting or not and a lot of talking. I think this is when I started skimming, I actually started to gloss over while reading and I just wanted to get to the next chapter and find out what happened. The sexy times were sexy I have to say, I'm not much into threesomes but sometimes they can be interesting, this one was okay.

All in all, I feel really bad posting this review, this book and possibly the series just did not do it for me.

Jake Louvière has gotten the surprise of his life. Kai Beckett has a reason to shy away from people. We have all types of paranormal creatures here and just like a witch the author does a great job of weaving a spell that grabs a hold of you. It has mystery, suspense, and plenty of heat.
This is a book that showcases this author’s creativity. One thing an author can do is let their imagination fly. What better way than to create a creature that we’ve never seen or experienced before. It will certainly have you wanting to see where that creativity will take you. And because this book is really hot – get your fan or air conditioner ready.

You don’t need to follow the series in order to enjoy Jake but there are characters mentioned here that might be a good incentive to check out the other seven books. It’s a great way to see what the Immortals are all about. But if you do read this book just be mindful that the ending will leave you with questions and wondering when we’ll be seeing book nine come out.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
