Chef/Detective by day and killer by night? I almost was hoping for a completely different story with this one. Another story of mistaken identity and being accused of murder. I like the food truck aspect and the flavor of Mardi Gras thrown in the mix. Another fast paced Patterson story.

The book wasn’t badly written overall, but I feel Patterson relied far too much on typical, boring stereotypes of Louisiana & NOLA. I will say that the recipes at the end were a nice touch & seemed at least passably authentic.

Only Caleb the Chef can save the city from a terrorist attack, so he deliberately hampers an FBI investigation, withholds evidence, threatens suspects, forces himself into property and accuses a charity of terrorism (because they’re Muslim - and that’s got to be dodgy) and then pursues a married woman. Frankly, the man is an arrogant racist.

The ending is fairly dramatic and the description of the food is mouthwatering. It would have been a lot better as a cookbook and ditched the terrorist plot.

Took a while to get through, might be better in print.
