I could never say no to a good 'enemies to lovers'. If the hints from previous books were any indication, I knew this would have amazing contents to offer. It did stay true to that and gave us all that we craved of Matteo-Gianna pair. This book didn't dig much into the dark stuff and was a lighthearted, fun read; it felt like an emotional bridge among characters that helped us understand the few good people living in their twisted world and how being raised in such way can change that in someone. I'd consider Luca and Gianna getting on good terms for the sake of Aria and Matteo the best part of the entire book, other than of course, Matteo himself.

Gianna's character suffered through a lot of emotional conflicts of her own, scared of turning out like the people she grew up despising, like her poised-perfect mother, who despite her obedience always took the worst of her father's lashings. She has been a sheltered child all her life and couldn't imagine getting accustomed to a normal life, no matter how badly she wished for it. She thought accepting her fate and accepting Matteo would be something like accepting the wrongs of their world and being okay with them; she prided herself too much to admit what she was feeling.

Definitely check the rest of the series out before diving into this book.

Alright, I'll be honest. I was fully ready to not like this book a lot. Gianna annoyed me as a character in [b:Bound by Honor|51525075|Bound by Honor (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, #1)|Cora Reilly|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1582304059l/51525075._SX50_.jpg|42913619] and again in [b:Bound by Duty|51661616|Bound by Duty (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles, #2)|Cora Reilly|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1582555936l/51661616._SX50_.jpg|43307651]. However, reading her internal dialogue throughout the book slowly stripped away my feelings of annoyance toward her. I felt like I could relate to some of her thoughts and reasoning behind why she acted the way that she did, and eventually I couldn't help but feel for her. I really enjoyed her character growth and overcoming pieces of her pride - an attribute that she admits is a fault of hers.

I really loved Matteo's character from book 1 and continued to really enjoy his character in this book. Despite already liking him in previous books, he did have a little growing to do and I really loved reading how that played out.

I highly, highly recommend reading this book if you have already read the previous books in the series!

This book is very good. I plan to continue the series and continue to read books from this author if you want to read this author or the series, I would check your trigger warnings first.

I wanna give it a zero but that's not possible, so I gave it a 1. I read this to get out of a reading slump but it just led me deeper into the depressive sluggish spiral. It's giving poor quality Wattpad.
