Ya know, I'm going to say this book is a little "look lesbians can have tense disintegrating marriages too." There are We Need to Talk About Kevin vibes throughout that, for better or worse, don't really go anywhere (towards or away from Kevin).

There are some cool things that Arnett does, for example, flipping to the POV of a random side character of a prior scene and a bit at the end that would be a spoiler to state, but felt a little spooky and I sort of wish was spookier.

I was hooked, but by the end unsatisfied. Nothing actually really happened and I'm not sure what the point of the book is.

Enjoyed reading, still processing.

Okay, I really enjoyed this book. I love that as the book progresses we realize that the narrator maybe isn’t the most reliable. 4/4.5

easily the worst book I’ve ever read. the writing is awful, the characters suck, no real plot, just terrible. also kinda gross? upset that I can’t get these hours of my life back. if you want to read about a really awful mother who hates her life, neglects and abuses her child, makes terrible decisions, has attachment issues, violates consent, and is generally just a shitty person …. then this is the book for you!
