Review - I loved Abigail and her "gung-ho" attitude to life. I thought Rachel was a bit of wimp and a little naïve but she nevertheless is bound to come into her own in the next book which is her story. I preferred this one to the last one. It was a little different story-wise to the previous one and so I found it more enjoyable, rather than a repeat of the same story. The previous ones almost seemed too "easy" but this one added more complications.

Book three of the Daughters of Mannerling and again a book that was quite dull, this series that I thought would show wit and charm has been in turns charmless and witless and altogether uninvolving.

I tried it again thinking I must be missing something after seeing a lot of positive reviews - not sure what it is but I am not seeing it.

A brief return to M C Beaton historicals to try and clear the kindle backlog, but this one was quite predictable and I wasn't very keen on many of the characters - although the governess' background was intriguing.
