There are only a handful of authors that cause me to drop everything when a new book drops, but Cassie is one of them. Trish's story is such a refreshing change in the world of YA fantasy. Angsty teenager? Sure, it's been done. Fae growing up among humans and having to conceal her identity? Yeah, it happens. Angsty fae teen taken in by the most wonderful, loving foster parents in the world who follow her into fairie because they want to protect her (right?) only to have all fairie related memories wiped, which means they don't remember their angsty fae teenage foster daughter? No, pretty sure this is all new territory. And I love it so, so much!

Trish is now living near her amnesiac foster parents (Dan and Nina) with her sister Starren who thinks killing anyone who looks at her funny is an appropriate option. So yeah, that's going well. Then Nina's sister Gwen shows up questioning why her sister who couldn't stop talking about Trish is now silent on the subject and when asked about how Trish is doing, responds with, "Who's Trish?" Yeah, that's a fun and believable story. Gwen also has some secret job in the military, so Trish isn't sure if she can trust her. Completely understandable all things considered. But Gwen decides to stick like glue as Trish and Starren try to sneak through their dad's minions in order to track down the one person who might know how to restore Dan and Nina's memories...and who also happens to be dead. Seriously, can't a girl have any luck? Trish and Starren are forced back into Faerie where they make several new friends and some surprising old acquaintances. Can they restore Dan and Nina's memories before it's too late? Will Trish be caught up in a war that is much more personal than she ever realized? And can she save the trees? (OK, I do realize that sounds anticlimactic, but trust me, it's a thing.)

A couple of odd things in the story. Jayden and Cray weren't in it. At all. And no, the couple of texts between them don't count. Dan and Nina were only in it at the very beginning and the very end. I understand that due to them being the reason Trish and Starren were forced to go back to Faerie. But I missed them. They are hand's down the best foster parents I've ever read in a YA (or any) book.

Cassie, I realize I had some strong feelings about your story at the end of the previous book, but I'm fine now. This book was incredible. I'm so blown away by the story and the characters. Totally loved the ending and did not see the twist coming, but it was perfect. I can't wait for your next book! Also, the only reason this took me two days to read and several more days to review was that I had work to do. But it was agony. And I may have lost a little sleep in my anxiousness to learn what happened next. Also, I tell everyone I don't buy books, but I preorder yours which I hope tells you something. Please write "back" soon. :)
